The Montessori Movable Alphabet (Tamil) is a specialized tactile material designed to help children aged 4+ years explore the structure of the Tamil script through hands-on word formation. 
 
Standard Montessori Tamil Movable Alphabet sets consist of three partitioned wooden boxes: 
 
Box 1 (Consonants): Contains 5 pieces each of the 18 consonants (Mei Ezhuthukkal), traditionally painted pink or red.
Boxes 2 & 3 (Vowels & Matras): Contain 10 pieces each of the 12 vowels (Uyir Ezhuthukkal) and their corresponding matras , traditionally painted blue.
